How to brew: Paper filter (Melitta)
Brazil's everyday coffee. With specialty coffee and the right ratio it turns out sweet and full-bodied, no sugar needed.
Quick answer

Step by step
- Heat the water to just off the boil (92–96 °C). Don't let it boil for long.
- Fold the filter seams, fit it in the holder and rinse it with hot water. Throw that water away.
- Add the ground coffee (medium grind) and pour just enough water to wet it. Wait 30 seconds.
- Top up in stages, keeping the water halfway up the filter. Don't stir the grounds with a spoon.
- Once all the water is through (3 to 4 minutes), remove the filter and serve. In a thermos it stays good for about an hour.
Questions
How many spoons of coffee per litre in a paper filter?
At 1:15, a litre needs about 67 g of coffee, roughly 9 to 10 level tablespoons. Weighing is more accurate than spoons.
Can I reuse the grounds?
Not for drinking: a second pass only pulls bitterness. Used grounds work as compost for plants.
